Video conferencing was a trending topic in 2014, and we expect to see even more discussion on mobile video conferencing throughout 2015.

An IDC study shows that the number of mobile employees will reach 1.3 billion globally by 2015 (which is 37.2 percent of the worldwide workforce), among which over 153 million remote workers are in the United States and Canada.

As people are becoming more and more mobile – whether that be remote workers or just people working on the road during a business trip – companies are encouraging the use of mobile devices for work purposes.

Now, the question is – how can organizations improve mobile communication/collaboration and productivity for remote employees and workers on the go?

Mobile video conferencing is definitely playing a significant role in the solution.

Improves communication and collaboration

Obviously enough, people enjoy having face-to-face conversations instead of just merely talking to a machine (we are, after all, human), which helps remote colleagues feel like they are a part of the team and connected with their teammates.

With mobile video conferencing, employees don’t need to have a specific facility and equipment for video conferencing. They can strike up instant video meetings with the team virtually in real-time and on-the-go, whenever they need to communicate and collaborate.

Increases productivity and creativity

It’s no surprise that video communication is becoming so popular. It allows employees to see the facial expressions and body language of others, helping everyone better understand each other and drastically improving employee productivity. With mobile video conferencing, people can enjoy all of this on the go.

Another advantage of mobile video conferencing is that employees can collaborate and work on projects anytime and anywhere when needed. Sometimes people come up with new ideas unexpectedly, and they need to be shared and communicated immediately. So, mobile video conferencing helps people share and brainstorm the next big ideas, which is a boon to employee creativity.

Cost-effective

With video conferencing, the cost aspect is obvious. Since people can have visual meetings without having to travel or commute, they significantly cut down travel expenses.

When using video conferencing feature via mobile devices, it is even more cost-effective. People can simply just install video conferencing applications on their existing mobile devices without the need for extra conference rooms and equipment. Employees have access to video conferencing via their smartphones and/or tablets from anywhere and anytime.
