COVID-19 changed how we live and how businesses operate. Companies searched for solutions to fill in critical gaps in particular around digital solutions such as AI, workflow automation, and advanced analytics to continue operating in a smooth manner.

But how can conversational AI help businesses intelligently respond to disasters and crises? How can artificial intelligence be used to fight the impacts of COVID-19 and climate change? This is something IntelePeer wanted to help answer.

As a first-year sponsor of  Call for Code, created by David Clark Cause and supported by Founding Partner IBM and Charitable Partner United Nations Human Rights, IntelePeer saw an opportunity, with our technology solutions, to help on a global scale. Whenever an unexpected event occurs, customer services teams can be overwhelmed fielding common questions around health information, test results, weather alerts, status of outages and more. By integrating a chatbot into your Call for Code solution to respond to frequently asked questions, you can advance the response time and accuracy in times of disasters and crises.

“At IntelePeer, one of our core tenets is to give back to the community,” Adam Klodner, vice president, application development, at IntelePeer said during our IBM livestream.  “Call for Code is a great way for users to creatively innovate and build out solutions that ultimately help businesses adapt during times of crises.”

The 2020 Call for Code Global Challenge encourages and fosters the creation of practical applications built on open source software including Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud, IBM Watson, IBM Blockchain, data from The Weather Company, and more. The goal is to employ technology in new ways that can make an immediate and lasting humanitarian impact in communities around the world. IntelePeer’s voice, messaging, ready-to-use applications, open APIs, and advanced analytics can enable communications workflows to automate the response during natural disasters and/or COVID-19 crises while minimizing risks to health and safety.

IntelePeer’s drag-and-drop visual designer, Atmosphere SmartFlows, makes it possible to build omni-channel interactions on-the-fly. Through the platform’s integration with IBM Watson Assistant, users can create intelligent AI interactions through a chatbot that can be implemented on any channel: website, SMS, voice, social or other application of your choice. Users can leverage built-in natural language processing, sentiment analysis, and tonality to create smarter interactions and take the guesswork out of understanding the user experience.

Whether it’s a pandemic, hurricane or other natural disaster that threatens to disrupt our daily lives, having a way to quickly respond and disperse key information is critical. What can you design to help combat the effects of COVID-19 or climate change? Health screenings, symptom tracking, contract tracing, emergency alerts, and power outages… These are just a few of the limitless use cases that can be implemented to help the cause. We look forward to seeing what the Call for Code developer community can uncover.
