Building homes and hope with Habitat for Humanity

On Friday, June 8th, IntelePeer had the privilege of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in the Empire, Colorado area. Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit that builds homes, provides services during natural disasters, revitalizes neighborhoods, and provides financial education for people in need.

Volunteers work together alongside homeowners to build “decent and affordable homes.” Our team was ready to put our skills to work and help with painting, construction, and building of a home for a family in need.

This experience resonated with our employees who fully believe in our core values and involvement in the community. Below are a few reflections of the participants:

“Working for a company that not only encourages, but also provides volunteer opportunities for its employees is admirable and reinforces why I am proud to work at IntelePeer. Helping out with Habitat for Humanity was eye-opening for me on how volunteers with little experience can come together and build a home which will make a big impact on someone’s life.” – Janet Turman, Director, Sales Operations

“Being able to give back to others personally while bringing us together in our community as IntelePeer is a game changer.  The team-building we gain is an extra benefit but knowing the work helps a family get into a home that they may not have normally been able to get into is what makes it all worthwhile.  It’s amazing what Habitat for Humanity is doing and what t we were able to contribute by painting, doing siding, moving cabinets or whatever was needed was just a small part of an even bigger picture.  My heart is full.”  — Heather Stanforth, Planning Manager

“IntelePeer cultivates an environment focused on giving, so helping to build a home with Habitat gave the IntelePeer Team an opportunity to share our gifts with others.  All day I kept thinking about how we are helping to change someone’s life, and how motivating that can be. Already looking forward to our next IntelePeer Build Day!” — Kristin Manwarren, SVP Legal Affairs

“In our everyday lives, we (IntelePeer employees) frequently work together on a variety of objectives, but the pace of business and the benefits of technology make it easy to neglect our personal connections. So, when the opportunity arose to volunteer our time for Habitat for Humanity, it did more than put us face-to-face. We coordinated and cooperated to provide a valuable opportunity/benefit for another person. And throughout our experience, we learned each other’s personalities and interests, and shared our lives.” — Chris Esquibel, Principal Engineer

At IntelePeer, being able to make a difference in people’s lives by giving back to our community is at the heart of our business. This experience with Habitat for Humanity allowed our team members to take two of our core values out to our community: “Elect to Spread Positivity” and “Have Fun while Learning and Growing.” We look forward to continuing to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity as well as other organizations we are proud to support.
