Celebrating United States Armed Forces members — both past and present

Veterans Day, November 11th, is a special day for me. It’s a reminder to ‘buddy check’ with those I served with in the United States Armed Forces, express my gratitude to those whose service came before and after me, and reflect somberly with friends from other countries about the sacrifices made in World War I as they recognize Armistice Day and Remembrance Day.

I’m proud of our own team members at IntelePeer who served in the US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, and US Air Force. We eagerly look forward to including members of the US Coast Guard and US Space Force to our ranks. The skills developed, the focus on mission accomplishment, and the leadership traits are a prized part of the IntelePeer team fabric woven together with people from all walks of life.

While appropriate to show appreciation to those who directly served in the Armed Forces, there’s another group that does not receive enough recognition for their sacrifice…our military spouses. When change of duty station orders are received, it is no easy task to have no say in the time or location of a life altering event…just the expectation of getting it done. This too frequently results in a spouse resigning from a difficult-to-get but otherwise good job, packing up personal belongings, feigning a “positive attitude” while saying goodbye to close friends, and managing the particularly difficult task of helping children deal with the disruption. All of this with an active-duty partner who may or may not be physically present to help manage the myriad of to-dos and emotions that come along with a permanent change of station.

With this in mind, I am pleased to know the teams at BASE Technology Partners and Wireless Technology Solutions whose focus is on helping our military spouses build a career that does not need to be permanently interrupted when the inevitable requirement to uproot and move comes along. A military spouse can do ANYTHING they put their mind to. With a constant set of life challenges to develop their self-reliance and self-confidence, this is a special group of people that are highly adaptable, ever resilient, and wise beyond their years. IntelePeer’s participation in the BASE Technology program as a foundational partner is a gratifying opportunity to support our military community.

To our United States Armed Forces members, both past and present – and to their spouses and families – your commitment and your sacrifice are appreciated. Today is a day to celebrate you. Thank you for your service to our great nation.
